...and lack of interaction thereof.

What I wanted to do was have a light be projected up through an
object that is on the ground, and have a scattering media show
the light.  Guess that doesn't work, but is there a way I can
do that without having to resort to rendering twice and merging
in post?

Duhr, how 'bout I make the ground shadowless?  It's not casting
shadows on anything anyways.
