I am looking for a cloth simulator as an include. I know some patches are
available but i would like to stay in the official Povray.

Is there one or do i start writting my own?

There are several web pages on the subject, but I think you severely
underestimate the amount of processing required. This kind of simulation
will take a *long* time to run if written in POV-Script. No serious
system has been written in POV-Script, partly because interpreting the
script is just too slow and partly because it is too complex to
implement easily in the POV language. And this is something where a
graphical editor really helps...it will take a lot of tweaking and fine
tuning.

A Google search will turn up others.

Thanks

I will look into those links. I guess I was hoping for a simple way to lay a
table cloth over a table realistically.

If you don't mind using a patched version of POVRay, then check out
ClothRay...

You can use ClothRay to do the simulation and use another version of
povray to do the rendering. You don't have to render it with clothray
necessarily. Just use it to do the simulation and generate the data you
are going to use to render it.

Anyway, have a look at it.

I think the new version of MegaPov comes with it. I am not quite sure as
I haven't played with it yet.

All the best

Fidel.
