Hi everyone!

I've been using Povray all along, and I've had the problem that I lacked
ideas and details, so I couldn't make any good-looking scenes.
Lately, I keep getting tons of ideas at the few minutes before I go to
sleep, including a real-time "renderer" that I can view my scene with.
Instead of wasting the ideas, I note them.

The question is - I don't know happened to me. I didn't have this feature
before!
Is it because I grew older? (I'm 17.5 now) If so, then time is the best
teacher. Only problem that it kills all of its students :(

Anything like that ever happened to you? Where do you get your ideas from?

Making the scene itself is a technical issue, combined with skill and
patience, I don't think that would be much of a problem for me.

It's funny that you should mention that. My best ideas usually float freely
just when I've gone to bed, and ended the day with looking or hearing
something that inspired me; music or graphics. My head is then full of
sounds or pictures that are actually "final products" that I wish I could
create! Sometimes it's really a ton of good ideas! The problem is, I can't
describe them on paper throughly enough, though I sometimes try because it's
better than nothing, but it doesn't keep the details or 'atmosphere' and I
can be sure my inspiration is gone before I have a chance to create it.

I don't know any solution to this.. Just two days ago, my head had a bunch
of ideas.. They're gone now.

Regards,
Hugo

Maybe I should add that I'm nearly 26 years old, but this 'effect' has
exsisted at least since I was your age.. If you find a solution, let me know
please..

Hi everyone,

I don't think this has anything to do with age. It happens to us all. Have
you ever heard of the right and left side of the brain?
Well, that is exactly it. The left side of the brain is in command all the
time. That is, when you are trying to think of something and nothing comes
out. Whenever you are not thinking your right brain takes over and comes up
with the ideas floating around your sub-conscience. This usually happens
during the night.
It happened to me loads of time when I was sleeping. I have a notebook by my
side all the time. Just in case I'm dreaming I sometimes wake up and write
it down or make a quick sketch.
That's when I found out that I wasn't as bad as I thought. I too could come
up with nice ideas.

Anyway, that is just a hint.

All the best,

Fidel.

PS: Has anyone read 'Drawing on the right side of the brain'? Well, read it
dudes.

I disagree; both sides of the brain are active all the time, it just
happens that one or the other side is better at processing signals in
certain ways, i.e. symbolic vs. literal. Both work together when you
'think', but how much each side does varies from moment to moment.
When you are retiring for the night, different areas of the brain do
different things, and this transition can trigger pieces of memories
in such a way that you connect them together and have new ideas.
This is by no means what is actually happening, but seems a reasonable
explanation.

LOL.. Good idea, do you have one? ;o)
I tried taping my voice too...

Hmm.. At the moment the VCR has a neural interface to my brain, but not the
other way around.
