Would it be possible that next time you could use some smarter program
to reduce the size of the images (for the thumbnails)? It looks like the
program you used reduced the images simply by dropping rows and columns
of pixels, which is not really nice.
The images with most little details suffer the most from this. They end
up looking like random noise.

Hmm... You might want to correct the typo on the viewing page:
" * The voting period will close July 176h, 2002, at midnight (time
stamp on your email)."

You are right. I missed this during conversion. I had no scope on thubnail
smoothing since I had already set Lanczos filter in my IrfanView. Looks like
batch converting in IrfanView has no setup for resize filter so I assume it
should get the same as for normal converting. But it doasn't. Greg I will
upload zip with correct thubnails after ten minutes at the same place as
previously.

I would have made my images a LOT better, but with only 500 bytes available
it's not easy... ;)

Aaah. Some versions of IE will squish an image down to fit the browser
window if they are larger than the size it wants to give them. The
squishing is apparently "AA 0.0."

Which is, of course, another braindead idea from MS.
I suppose that it can be turned off...

And, of course, if you hover over the image, a graphic pops up that allows you
to toggle between screen size/image size.
Actually, I quite like this option - I could do with an easier universal toggle
and some sort of indicator that resizing has taken place, but whenever I've
turned it off completely, I pretty soon end up turning it back on again.

It sort of grew on me, and now I like it, too. I regularly download
larger-than-my-browser window images from my favorite WRC site. It's
nice not to have to scroll the window to see the rest of the images.

I hope that playing with new official people don't forget to participate in
voting. What is the current status of it ?

I didn't noticed this mistake earlier but I'm Wodzimierz which can be
simplified to Wlodzimierz (the second letter is stroked L). I hope that when
registered www.povray.org users would have posting feature then it should fix
my language caprice.

This means that you are using the ISO-8859-1 charset (aka. ISO-Latin-1),
which is the most common charset.
If you are going to use characters with values >127, you'll better use
the Latin-1 charset or just transliterate to ASCII, or else most people in
the world will see the wrong characters (as happened in this case). You just
can't assume that everyone in the world uses the same charset as you
(you can more or less assume this for the Latin-1 charset, even though not
*everyone* uses it, but most people by default).
(Of course this depends a lot where you are. In Japan the most common
charsets are Shift JIS and EUC JP.)
In webpages the situation is better because you can tell the charset to
use in the headers of the page (and then it's only up to the viewer to have
the proper browser support and font to view it).
