I was just sat here pondering an idea. Has anyone ever organised a
raytracing version of a lan party?

As each person arrives they are given a number and allocated somewhere to
set up. Once the competition is about to begin teams are selected at random
from the numbers they were given.

The subject is then announced and the teams have a certain amount of time to
come up with the best scene they can based around the subject.

At the end of the time limit an indipendent panel of judges decides on the
top 3 scenes, and prizes are awarded accordingly.

Just a thought

:)

Dave.

yeah ... sounds nice ...
I would be in ... but I still believe,
that it would be hard, to find a good
location, where all the POVers can be
able to come to ... So , where is the
problem, making this an online contest ?

I think, that this gathering wouldn't
bring all the interested people toge-
ther.

What a great idea, we could call it the Internet Raytracing Competition
(IRTC for short) ;)

When I first read the subject I was thinking you were going to suggest
everyone brings there computer and set up a small render farm. Then we watch
line by line as a high radiosity, photon usin', focal blurred, isosurface
ridden picture gets rendered :)
