Hello all,

I've been working on and off for some time now on an animation. (More off
than on recently... you know how that goes. :( ) It's a
spaceship-travelling-through-space animation, but I'm rather fond of it.
It's also about two minutes long, and even with MPEG1 encoding the smallest
I can get it is 200MB -- *slightly* more than the newsgroup will handle. ;-)
Could anyone suggest a way to get it to a manageable size and/or a place to
host it? Thanks!

There's MPEG2 and MPEG4, you know...

If a fullscreen, 2h 45min movie, can fit on a single CDR, then your
anim should fit in under a megabyte with no problem.

Wow! 200MB for 2 minutes is extreme! What are the bitrate, frame rate and
screen resolution of the animation?

You need to show people its worth with a 160x120 or 320x240 MPEG-1 first.

He who can impress with little can also impress more with a lot.

Crap! That should be a *20MB* MPEG1 @ 320x240, 24bpp, 20fps. Not only
that, but the AVI compresses down to about 11MB with Indeo 5, so with a
little tweaking I can probably get it under my ISP's 10MB limit. (Don't you
hate it when you answer your own dumb question *after* asking it in public?
Sorry about that. :(
