HI all
It's me being a pest again.
I have to produce a rendering for a print. The final size will be !5x21 cm and it
should be 300dpi
Question: what size should I render it? The final pic will be in jpeg format
Thanks in advance
Mick

(5 / 2.54 * 300) x (21 / 2.54 * 300) pixels

Or did you mean 15x21, not 5x21, then it should be
(15 / 2.54 ) * 300 x (21 / 2.54) *300 = 1772 x 2480 pixels

Why divide by 2.54? Won't that force the printer to interpolate?
I tend to work at 1:1; maybe that's overkill, but for a 12" x 18" print with
a printer of 271 dpi, I use 12 x 271 by 18 x 271.
Just curious about the scaling factor you used..

dpi = Dots Per Inch, so you'll have to convert from inches to centimeters.

The main reason he used 2.54 was because mick wanted the image to be 15cm
x 21cm, which needed to be converted to inches, hence the 2.54. Hope that
makes sense.

Because one inch is 2.54 cm, and thus you have to divide in order to convert
centimeters to inches. It has nothing to do with some printer doing some
interpolation or something - in fact you probably misunderstood the original
question as it wasn't about some printer or printer settings but about the
image size in pixels for a 300 dpi printout.
