What was wrong with default colors of About 3.5... window colors ?
It is supposed to be extended to other dialogs ?

I can't tell you this yet (since the feature that the color was changed
for isn't finished yet).

No.

I'm very surprized - 40% of changes on current windows beta was connected with
this window. Was colors so important?

Thank You :-)

Does it really matter what color is it? It's not like you will be staring
the about-box all the time.
Besides, the purpose of this design change is worth of it.

what gives you the right to imply that 40% of the changes were merely to alter
the colour ? yes, the colour has altered, but on what basis do you proclaim that
this just to alter the colour (with no other benefits) ?

really, it's this sort of whining that makes me wonder why sometimes I even bother.
what is it to you that I changed the colour ? what is it to you how many entries
in the changelist that it occupied ?

I like the look, it seems more 'modern' and smooth.

besides, if I noticed correctly the egg is bigger now! (if you can find it)

Notes in changes.txt - there is 10 sentences in changes.txt in windows platform
(I'm not talking about revision.txt) and iirc 4 are connected with
bitmaps/design/colors of About window. But I have used wrong word. Instead of
color I mean design but it mainly apeared as color change for me.

The thread goes in the wrong direction. Sorry for bothering you. Internally (in
my mind) it is wider problem not connected with this design change but rather
with development model of POV. I'm affraid to express it with my English so I
prefer to not discutte (my thoughts are just thoughts not attacks as they are
recived :-( ).

that is what is being changed (not yet done). it is intended to match the
new colour.

The primary reason for the change to a bitmapped about dialog was to
ensure it displays properly. Using a normal Windows dialog requires me
to make too much allowance for font sizing changing from system to system,
otherwise I risk cutting stuff off. This makes it too hard to fit things
safely onto the dialog as it previously combined a mixture of bitmaps and
fonts.

By moving to a bitmap-based dialog this problem is solved since I now have
absolute control over how it is displayed. The fact that I can now control
the colour is a side-benefit. What you now see displayed in front of you
is no longer a Windows dialog at all, but a normal window with a bitmap and
a few owner-draw buttons. If you can't understand what that means I can't
spend any more time explaining it.

I also take issue with the implication - in your comments about development
model - that you think we are concentrating on the wrong things. Frankly, I
do not agree with any such suggestion. Being able to reliably display our
copyright and licence info is an important function, even though some folks
such as you would suggest otherwise. I have every right to choose to spend
my volunteer time on whatever I like, and if that happens to be fixing the
about box (which I've wanted to do for at least four years), then so be it.

Thank You for this very good explanation.
