I'm wondering if it is possible to set up a binary group for large postings
so people who have fast connections can post or download animations larger
than 2MB (for those of us who don't use web space or can find the time
between POVing to find out how). It could be time limited, say 1 week, then
it gets deleted and maybe an overal size cap on the group to keep the server
space down. This way, people who have been working on larger projects can
share their ideas. We have seen a lot of these intensive physics based
animations lately which can suffer greatly by the size limitation.

This is only an idea, good or bad? Other suggestions comments?

Baaad idea. It means I'll never get to see those nice animations.

The low size limit in p.b.a means that people do an effort to keep file
sizes down, and that again means that more people will take the time to
download them. Well, that's how I see it. Of course I don't have a fast
connection so the suggestion was not meant for me, but I'm afraid that
people who could and would have posted a smaller animation in p.b.a will
then post a larger animation in the new group instead, which I won't get to
see.

Hard to say it- take a look at my previous post - but I must say that you
are right.

*ahem*

HDD space is not the only expenditure of this server. Bandwidth is
also paid for.
