hello,

when the new official pov-ray 3.5 comes out, will megapov be
reworked so that its baseline is 3.5, or will it continue as it is?

does that make sense? i know that povray 3.5 is incorporating
and even repairing a lot of the new features available in mega,
but i'm interested in whether mega is a custom-build of an old,
old povray build or if it is occasionally reoriented to the official
version, with the extra goodies added back in.

thank you, miker

Until someone who actually knows what they are talking about answers....

Megapov will probably come out at some time, but since it is really a
compilation of the patches of other people, it will most likely only come
out as other people rewrite or write new patches. By the time there are a
few independent patches available, someone will slap them all together as a
super-pov or patched-pov or mega-pov or something.

This is so far the most frequently asked question about pov3.5.

And the answer is, again: Yes, the next megapov will be based on 3.5.
