Hi all:
Some good news. There's a new Hamapatch version (2.4) released on 8/1/01
I've just seen it and dowloaded, not installed still (so I don't know what's
new)
The link is
http://www.geocities.com/Tokyo/Ginza/6625/soft10.html
There you can download the program.
Well, I got a new toy for my holidays.
Bye.

Well, I have, and, while I like it (it *is* quite wonderful for it's size)
I wonder: what exactly is new? All I could find was what looked like an
option to save as mesh2 format : which would be really wonderful - you
could use it in csg ops - if it wasn't permanently greyed out. Is it
supposed to be a teaser?Or did you have better luck? can you tell me.

I seldom use graphical modellers, but the few times I have done so, I have
become accustomed to how Moray works. I really like the shortcut keys in
Moray, which allow you to extremely easily zoom, pan, rotate and so on the
view of a window by just pressing shift, control, alt, etc. It makes it very
easy to zoom to a certain point or to change the point of view, which is a
great aid.
When I use hamapatch (or spatch for that matter) I really miss those aids.
It's just extremely difficult and annoying to make any of those simple tasks.
I just can't do anything.
I really hope that some type of "Moray compatibility mode" would be added
to Hamapatch. It would make working with the program a lot easier and nicer.

Well, actually, even Hamapatch has these aids, though, perhaps not
emphasized in the docs.Like RButton zooms, middle button pans and a few
others which you can get to know if you go to help>edit_shortcut_keys and
keep clicking. Besides, like the name says, you can define your own.

From version 2.3.2 Moray compatibility has also been added. In the sense
that you can use all of sPatch's plugins (directly, far as I remember)
within Hamapatch. Including, of course, direct Moray export (using Lutz's
own plugin for Spatch that exports in Moray .mdl format)Of course, till now
that meant Bezier patches (or Bicubic patches), which you couldn't use for
csg. Hopefully, with the addition of mesh2 format, that should change. For
me, that would be a really bright day: when I could combine the
extraordinary interface-to-PovRay, csg ops & general ease-of-use with
Hamapatch's wonderful vertex editing and organic capabilities.

Not to say that Moray isn't - at present - vastly superior. And not
mentioning that Hamapatch is free and *all* of 375 kb (approx);-)

p.s. Also Hamapatch reads and writes a lot many more formats than Moray (so
you can use sobjects from other programs & the net ) Also. it's the only
program, so to say, that can export in Moray's internal format (this
includes Moray itself AFAIK - even with 3dWin!)

What I meant with "Moray compatibility mode" was that it would use the
same keys/key combinations for the same things as in Moray.

Not much of a reply -sorry - but you *could* have many shortcuts the same
by going to help>define_shortcut_keys and defining them there. Of course,
since the mode of modelling of Hamapatch is totally different to other
modellers, there can't be too much 'compatibility'

um, hi,

ok, i'm in a bad mood.

given.

I've dl'ed Hampatch 2.4.

I just hope and pray it's not as annoying as the
last one.

Now, I'm not an advanced user, like Warp, so I couldn't
care less about shortcut key (well, not yet.),
but I do have a problem with posted programs,
no matter how wonderful they are, as is Hampatch,
that have important features that don't friggin' work!

I believe it was (maybe still is) 'insert object' or something.

Again, I am in a bad mood, as I said, and, to top that off,
my cat is sleeping in me friggin chair, so I write this standing
up.

A guy who has a nice project going on with Hampatch.

Cats are nice, I like cats, I have three living with me now.
That said, just move the cat. Remember that you are the boss.
