I recently became the new RingMaster of the original POV-Ray Webring.
I have made a new homepage for the ring which you can find here:
http://webring.povray.co.uk
The POV-Ray Webring is a webring dedicated to POV-Ray: image galleries, file
archives, tutorials, howto's, project info, source code patches and more,
but always related in some way or another to POV-Ray.
If you have a site (or one or more pages in a site) about POV-Ray, you are
very welcome to join the ring.
You might also find the site interesting if you are already a member of
POV-Ray Webring. On the site you will find designs for alternative NavBars
you can use. If you have an old NavBar or if you use the Yahoo! NavBar but
don't like it, you are encouraged to have a look at the new ones.
Feedback about the new site, the NavBars or anything else regarding the ring
is very welcome.
Regards,
Rune

Navbars look nice. Is there any chance of getting the ellipsoid one for a
black background?

Hm, well I have my POV-Ray web page linked up to the web ring from
http://webring.povray.org/
These are two different things, right? Or am I wrong?

They're two different rings.
POV-Ray Webring
Hosted at http://webring.povray.co.uk
Run by the Yahoo! WebRing service.
Currently has 135 members.
You can customize the NavBar (including the graphics) very much in this
ring.
The RingMaster of this ring is me.
POV-Ray New Ring
Hosted at http://webring.povray.org
Run as an independend service.
Currently has 34 members.
You have to use a certain image for the NavBar.
The RingMaster of this ring is Guillermo Sanz Romero, who was the person who
started the original POV-Ray Webring. When Yahoo! took over the service, he
left the original ring and started this new one.
I hope that's clear now. I probably should include this information on the
homepage to avoid confusion.

I intent to make the source code for the NavBars available. Then everybody
can modify them to their needs and for example render them for whichever
backgrounds they like.
Just give me a day or two.

Thanks for the answer Rune. I was kind of wondering about the officiality
of yours too, and guess that explains it. Since the other looks for all
the world "official" that confused me. And when it changed over to Yahoo! I
wasn't sure what difference had occured and seeing yours also said Yahoo!
further confounded me. Think I've got it figured now, it was the original I
joined up with some years ago. So in other words, in anwser to Wlodzimierz
here, it was the first POV-Ray Webring I think. Then it was left behind and
restarted at webring.povray.org just not actually carried over (meaning you
had to rejoin).

I'm not sure I understand what you mean.
The original webring was never left behind. It still exists and has lots of
members. I am the current RingMaster of the original POV-Ray Webring.
The ring at webring.povray.org is not the original being "restarted". It is
a new ring as the name says (POV-Ray New Ring).
I don't know if any of the rings are "official". What exactly does
"official" mean anyway in this context?

I think the new ring could be terms official by association as its hosted
and run on the official povray servers
I used to have a site in the old ring but when it moved over to yahoo I
jumped ship - after yahoo snaffled egroups as well I ended up joining yahoo
for that so will have to get pov-uk in the orig ring as well....

The source code is up now.
Look at the bottom of the NavBars page:
http://webring.povray.co.uk/navbars.html#ownnavbar
I hope I will be seing some creative and original NavBars created by people.
Have fun!
