The POV-Team officially has decided to adopt logo #2 submitted
by Chris Colefax.
However they are working with Chris on some minor revisions to
the logo. That means that the logo as it is represented on the
logo contest page is not entirely representative of what will
ultimately be used by the team. According to TAG-Team member
Ken Tyler, who have seen the changes the POV-Team want, the
official logo will not be significantly different from the
original but enough that the changes are obvious.
The POV-Team also caution that because of the major amount of
work left to be done with the release of POV-Ray v3.5 they may
not have time to include the logo along with the release of
v3.5. There's no indication from the team as to when the final
version will be set or when they themselves will use it either
in association with the program or somewhere on povray.org.

Congratulations to Chris Colefax for a well thought out and
representative design.

And thanks to everybody who participated in the contest, everybody who
helped me in the process of arranging it, and everybody who supported it! :)

Why not? Why would it add much time? A new splash screen, icon, and updated
help files... I think it would be worth holding off on the release as long
as it takes to incorporate the logo.

:)
As a POV-Team member, I would also like to thank everyone who participated
in the contest, especially those who submitted such great logo designs, but
also those who participated in logo discussions and those who voted. I (and
I'm sure the other Team members also) appreciate the interest that is shown
and the desire to continually improve POV-Ray. And thank you, Rune, for
organizing and hosting the contest. Thanks to everyone for the work that
has gone into this.
Sincerely,
Nathan Kopp
POV-Team programmer
