I know this is a pretty backwards thing to do, but it seems that it
could be done here anyway.

Has anyone developed any models to describe an automotive headlight bulb
light source, to trace the illumination/beam pattern of a headlamp
housing? This would seems like a neat way to experiment with alternate
reflector designs.

Someone asked about analyzing light intensity from a lightbeam reflector not
too long ago. They provided the idea and I gave my answer. Guess I'll post
that script to p.t.s-f since it looks like I never did. Adding a refractive
lens and reshape the reflector used wouldn't be difficult.

Any chance you can point me at that earlier thread? Got a thread Subject
or message ID? Thanks.

One of these should be get you there:

3dc96a5e$1@news.povray.org
or
http://news.povray.org/povray.newusers/28553/202083/#202083

And here is the pov script posting, just to reiterate that:

3df7f530@news.povray.org
or
http://news.povray.org/povray.text.scene-files/29241/207432/#207432

If you don't have a cookie set for the news web site you'll need to retry
either one of the http URL's after setting your preferences. I don't use the
message ID's enough to know if I'm doing those right, but I know the web
links work right.

Egads, I was doing tis wrong other times too! news: goes in front of those
"email-like" links or they don't work right. I came looking for when I (or
anyone) did it the correct way. I know I had done so in the past. Sheesh.
Sorry all for bringing up this old message again in the process. Figured I
should at least try fixing these while here.
