Strange that one of the reasons I released DKBTrace as the base for
POV-Ray was that I couldn't release new versions fast enough to satisfy
the users. I know what they're going through.

I am just wondering if 3.5 was a bad idea, might have been better to just go
for the whole rewrite (v4)

I don't think so, the 'function' and 'isosurface' features are so great that
it could be wasting of time to wait for complete rewrite. Of course they were
in megapov like photons, radiosity etc. but now it is much better
implementation. There were of course other reasons explained before by Chris,
Nathan, Ron, Thorsten or somebody else.
