I brought up an old version of pov 3.1g. While my mega 0.6 is running
fine, there I have a problem where 3.1g always shows a mosaic preview.
I can modify it (change preview size) and I know I'm looking at the
right POVRAY.INI (able to turn on/off animation), but I'm always stuck
with this preview and cannot find a place to turn it off.

Hi, Greg. The mosaic preview feature is either specified in an .ini
file or on the command line. See section "3.2.2.2.3 Mosaic Preview" of
the docs. From within POV-Ray for Windows press ALT+C to open the "Edit
Settings/Render" dialog box (or click on the INI button on the toolbar)
and check for the any commands in the command line box. Settings entered
on this command line will apply to any subsequent renders until altered
or deleted, regardless of what you have in your .ini file. The command
line overrides commands in the .ini file.

Did you add a +QR anywhere? MegaPov will ignore +QR (radiosity) unless you
specify radiosity in your POV file. Official POV-Ray, on the other hand,
will always use radiosity if you specify +QR. Don't forget to look in the
INI dialog box (the INI toolbar button) for additional command line options.

Aaah. I misinterpreted the pre-scans of *radiosity* as a mosaic preview.
Somehow after 4 scans of my POVRAY.INI, I didn't notice that I had Radiosity=On
. For some reason this was only affecting 3.1g but not 0.6. In any case, case
closed.

In megapov, radiosity is only used when you use '+QR' *and* have a
radiosity{} block in the scene file, while 3.1 also calculates radiosity
if the radiosity block is not specified.
