I have two harddrives on my computer.  I have windows on the C drive and
POV on the D drive.  I recently had to format my C drive and reinstall
Windows.  Now, when I try to run POV, it complains that it can't find
its registry keys.  I really don't want to reinstall POV as I have a lot
of settings, files, and directories set up the way I want them.  I was
just wondering if anyone could copy their registry key and give it to me
or tell me what to put in Regedit --  unless of course, this is against
any license agreements.  Any help on this issue would be appreciated.

One trick you can do before an install of POV-Ray and keep existing files
and setting is to merely renamed it's existing directory. When the install
is finished remove the installed directory tree and rename the older one
to it's original name.

out of the Povray directory.  Even my ini files have copies in another
location.  I just got -so- tired of new installs overwriting my insert menu
and ini files and worrying about my .pov files...

Aggreed.

What I do is tell pov to backup existing files then copy them back
when the install is finished. I managed to format the C drive, reinstall
windows
and get POV running in just over three hours a couple of weekends ago


As for registry key - copy all the text below my signature, save as a .reg
file
then run it. I would recoment backing up the registry before you do this
(Just in Case!)

This assummes that pov is installed in a directory D:\Personal\Pov-Ray for
windows 3.1

I'm still using the same directory for .POV and .INC files that I used
for the DOS version.
