Hello povlab-users,

POVLAB  executable and site has been updated for still users.
It  should  run  a  little  bit faster because of an optimization of a many
times called function.

I  rebuild  the  full  package,  add  the  SP4 and the latest corrections /
additions  I  could. Anyway, I think I will really stop hoping of something
new around POVLAB.

It  seems that the POV-Ray site is no more updated, POVLAB's links has been
removed,  I  didn't  see  a really good pictures since a long time, and all
wishes  I  put  when I made it freeware and release the source code doesn't
change anything at all. NO EVOLUTION !

I  am still here in case of something new happends (I can't believe it, but
who knows...) I guess that if nothing comes in a couple of months, all will
be released to past, and domain will be deconnected.

Don't be disappointed, that's life.

    I have been trying to get your program to run on any computer (total of
six computers, 8 or 9 video cards (one bought just for POVLab!)) for about
three years. The closest I have come is this latest download where I could
actually see the button shapes in all the video mess. I was able, after a
lot of trial and error, to exit your program without rebooting.

    Still haven't seen how the program works, but it's an improvement. I
have written you on more than one occasion and was directed to your "FAQ"
but my problem was not addressed there and nothing else was forthcoming.

    Perhaps situations like this explain the lack of enthusiasm you
perceive.

I removed the link because you said you didn't want it there anymore (you
wanted the mailing list button instead).

I'd be happy to put it back if you like. I'm also willing to host povlab.org
for you on the povray.org machine if you would find that convenient. I find
povlab.org to be very slow and this probably doesn't help.

As for the POV site not being updated, Real Life (TM) is intervening right now.

It will happen. These things just take time.

FWIW, in addition to the above message, I personally emailed Denis with a
promise of help. I told him I would immediately restore the povlab button on
povray.org if he wanted me to. I told him I would also host povlab.org on the
povray.org machine for free and give him an account that very day if he wanted
it.

That was well over a week ago. I didn't even get a response to my email.

Denis doesn't appear to want POVLAB to continue. (At least, if he does, he's
not saying so).
