Okay, time to make a fool of myself in a public forum.

Is there any way to set the default directory that PovRay compiles the
images to without completely reinstalling the program? I am using 3.02
right now, and I'm sure there is a way but browsing the menu's and help
files didn't get me anywhere, so I stand on a soap box and scream :)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Saif.

Hey, that's not a stupid question.
It took me a while to figure it out myself when I needed to change it.

Open the povray.ini file, which is in the renderer directory I think,
but not sure whic directory. Anyway, open povray.ini in notepad (or
other text editor) and change the line (or add it if there is none)
+Oc:\povwin\images
(or Output File=)
Or whatever directory you choose. Or delete the line (or comment out)
for output to the input file's directory)
Hope it helps.

To edit the INI file easily, choose "Edit master POVRAY.INI" from the
Tools menu.

The line in question in my povray.ini is

Output_File_Name=D:\mine\IMAGES\traced\

where d:\mine\images\traced is the directory I want the images to be
in. It's the last line in my file; if yours came from a standard
installation, it's probably the last line in yours, too.
