The documentation of colors.inc (section 3.4.9.1.3.2) describes a macro
Convert_Color() which converts between various color systems. There is no such
macro anywhere in the POV-Ray distribution.

Also, the descriptions of the existing conversion macros do not say whether they
return the converted parameter or the parameter is converted in place. (It's
the former.)

POV-Ray versions: POV-Ray 3.7.0
Operating system: openSUSE 13.1 GNU/Linux
Hardware: Dell Inspiron 17R, Intel Core i7

I'm guessing that it's been missing for some time now ... colors.inc is
at revision 4 in perforce and I did "diff" on all previous versions
(back to 2001.7.21). I didn't see it! I'm going to wait on removing it
from the docs ... to see if anyone else has any input on the issue, as
I'm clueless on this one.

Perhaps it is related to the macro that was mentioned in this post ?

Thanks ... if I'm reading correctly it is/was part of megapov and I
should remove Convert_Color() from the docs

The capitalization makes me suspect that this macro have been prepared for the
official include files. And then, maybe, someone just forgot to include it ;)

the deeper I dig the more it seems that it's a documentation anomaly. I
looked in perforce and found where it disappeared.

I version 3.5 colors.inc had 7 revisions ... initial version 2/21/01
didn't have /ANY/ color macros but showed up in v2 when CHSL2RGB() and
it's kin, including Convert_Color() were added. In version 5
Convert_Color() was removed and hasn't been heard from since ... the
others remained.

I'm going to remove it from the documentation.

Ok.

I found some more information in this thread:

From: Marc-Hendrik Bremer
Subject: Colors.inc-macros incomplete
Date: 9 Sep 2001 16:21:29

http://news.povray.org/povray.beta-test/thread/%3C3b9b9709%40news.povray.org%3E/

But there is no explanation for why the Convert_Color macro is missing.

IIRC, Rune organised the include files at that time. Maybe he can remember what
happened.
