There is a new Hamapatch version (2.5 released on 2/9/2002) available for
download.
I've just downloaded it but not installed yet.
The new features seem to be :
"3 new curve editing features under Model on the menu and Default Material
setting on the Dialog window" (information obtained at

(Also you can take a look at a program called "graffiti" that paint your
models in real time (now they must be in raw format but they promise future
versions will include support for other 3D formats). The link is
