I doubt there's a *good* one, but there most likely is some kind of
commerial program that will take image files from different angles and merge
them into one mesh. Such techniques aren't very accurate, though, and the
software would probably be expensive. Try a web search.

You *could* try http://www.photomodeler.com/
But you'd need a _lot_ of patience and not loose track of where you are...

Don't know whether this is actually an answer but have you seen Rhino
(www.rhino3d.com). Also there's a technique for building a face from
orthographic views using HamaPatch/sPatch available through the
website links (from www.crosswinds.net/~hamapatch) . Probably Poser
may do what you want, too - I don't really know.
All except HamaPatch/sPatch are commercial programs, though, costing
over 300$.
Hope this helps

what about the DMesh program? anybody remember that? it
was fairly labor-intensive but produced some decent stuff. i
guess i'm not sure if you could use a photo or not, but i thought
it supported uv mapping.
good luck, miker

You might try the "background image" feature in Hamapatch which corresponds to
the Animation Master "rotoscope" feature. This will allow you to assign a
background image to a view that you can use to follow the profile curves of
your photographs in creating a mesh.

Please tell me where I can get DMesh. I've been to the site but I couldn't find
the download.

I think the author of DMesh is from Germany.
He wrote to me two years ago and I could find
his e-mail. Perhaps I have the zip file with
the dmesh.exe. I will look for it.

Hi Eric,
I made a simple util in Java that creates an inc file from a 2 color TGA image. It's
not great, but you can see an example
here: http://weirdx.sourceforge.net/image/20010110-weirdx-cygwin.png

whoops! sorry! i haven't been back here in a while. i believe
that the last time i seen dmesh, he had uploaded it to a third-
party distributor and was selling it as a low-cost app. i'll see
what i can find. if i find anything, i'll post back.
good luck, miker
