IMHO it is still worthwhile in the free version.
Then again i don't use it, but it looks like it
is useful, and it does export to POV!

I thought it looked cool too... until I started doing anything other than
the tutorial stuff... then it kept crashing on me :-(

I think there isn't a really good free or lowcost modeller out for POV under
Windoofs. In my opinion only Moray can satisfy (you have to use some other
utilities to build primitives) and it isn't to expensive. But if you want to
work professional and without compromises I don't know no other app than
Rhino that can export to POV and with which you can build really everything
you can imagine , but you have to spend a very very lot of money for it :-((

Animation:Master will export objects to POV, it is like a
more powerful version of Hamapatch. Amapi will also
export to POV. There was a free version of Amapi available
but I don't know if it is anymore.

You can still get Amapi3D v4.15 for free at
http://amapi.idevgames.com/

I use basically Moray, Hamapatch, Poser, Poseray, the Gimp, Pov (for
scripting and rendering) and all macro and include files that fit in my
proyect. I think they make a great and powerful combination (and not
expensive at all).
There are also other utilities (all freeware) for specific purposes;
Anim8or, Biowin, Crossroads, Elefont, Lithunwrap,...
Now that I think about it, I got some programs obtained in magazines like
Amapi, Strata, Cinema 4D, 3DStudio3, Truespace, Imagine, Bryce, Real3D...,
but since I discovered Pov I almost never used them. I even have Maya
personal edition and haven't installed it yet. (I don't think I'll do it
anyway).
Maybe I have become a mad 3D collector.
See you.

Strata Studio Pro 2.5.3 (The full version) will be on the cover of next
months DIGIT magazine. Dunno about POV export, but it looks very nice
(radiosity, inverse kinematics etc)

All the best,

Andy Cocker

Au contraire! Check out Wings (www.wings3d.com). Very easy to use and
powerful subD/polygon modeler--several users use it in preference to the
modelers in expensive 3D packages. There is an output plugin to povray, but
I prefer to output to obj, texture and use Poseray to convert to povray
keeping the uv texture information intact.

BTW, free (released under BSD style license).
