Hello out there...
I don't like programs that appear with the first bug-fix or new release
just two weeks after the last one, but - well - some people complained
about the shapes of the triangles in my first geodesic macro. However,
even though it is not possible to really create spheres from congruent
triangles, I found a way to implement a second mode of subdivision of
the basic polyhedra. Instead of performing a planar subdivision, the
triangles are projected to the unit sphere in the new mode 2. By
introducing this mode, the macro became slightly incompatible to its
predecessor, while the output in the mode 1 still is identical.
I also de-spaghettied the code a little bit...
You can see a 280kB animation of the difference between the two modes at
http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Lakes/5432/povray/geodesic.html
(still under construction...)
Uwe.
