Hi everybody,

I was trying to write a program able to automatically generate a
POVscene choosing at random
the objects to be put inside ...
My problem is: being the objects at random positions/size,

there is out there some utility able to read a POV file and
returning
the centre of gravity of the objects contained in the scene, plus
the
maximum scene size (e.g. the side of a cube containing everything)
???

Any help appreciated, thanks....

P.S. PLEASE, reply by email!!!

There is a macro written by Ron Parker that will return what he calls
an objects bounds. If several objects were contained in one union it might
return information about the outside limits of the entire union.
Unfortunatly this macro requires you to use an unofficial version of
Pov-Ray called the SuperPatch. It has all of the same features as the
official version plus several great features that the official version
does not have. If you are ok with using a patched version of Pov this
might solve your problem. I'll put a couple of links below for the
Superpatch and the objects bounds macro file. You can look at them and
decide for yourself.

The Super Patch is available in the Patch Station section of:
http://twysted.net

The object bounds macro is available at:
