Sorry I was not very detailed in my previous question about height fields.
The problem I have is the following...
I have a black/white logo. (not really black and white but pretends to be
so)
This logo has been got through a scanner so it has not very precise
contours.
I have to use this logo in POV for normals (no problem) and height fields to
render it in an appealing way.
Since it is black and white I would like to make its contours smooth in
order to get a rounded height field in POV.
I have seen a UNIX utility called 'level connector' (lev-con) that might
help but I use Windows NT ... any port ?
Anyone know any utility to massage, clean and restyle B&W scanned images to
be used as height fields ?
Thanx again
Paolo

You might try HFLab, by John Beale. Load your text in it and apply the
lowpass filter. This will smooth rough spots and round off the edges.
HFLab is available at: http://shell3.ba.best.com/~beale/

Likewise leveller will allow you to import certain image file
formats (.tga) and has tools that can manipulat the image
in the way you describe. It has tools for smoothing, raising,
cratering, crevicing, and a few others. Honestly give it a try.

Try using Gaussian noise in coreldraw or photoshop I don't know about
paintshop pro
This will soften the edges and when rendered will give a rounded edge look
