(*)----MacDEM2POV----
Author: Russell Towle -- rus### [at] foothillnet
Version: ? (March 18, 1997)
Platform: Mac OS
Tryout Type: Freeware?
WWW: http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/povraymac/
(*)----PolyTrans----
Author: Okino Computer Graphics, Inc. -- sal### [at] okinocom
Version: 1.2b (March 19, 1997)
Platform: Win/DEC/DOS/SUN/SGI
Tryout Type: Shareware (Crippled)
Cost: About $350 - 500 depending on platform and other factors.
WWW: http://www.okino.com/conv/conv.htm
Description: This is a very extensive conversion program letting
you convert between many formats. It can export to POV 2.2
and 3.0. While it can't convert as many formats as some other
programs, does seem to make an effort to convert the ones it
can to a "ready to render" format with minimal tweaking. Most
people won't need this, but if you need to get something
converted to POV-Ray very quickly, might be of help. However,
I urge even the "power user" to check out the cheaper/free
programs first.
(%)----POVray.m----
Author: Roman E. Maeder -- mae### [at] infethzch
File Type: Mathematica package
Export: POV
WWW: http://www.inf.ethz.ch/department/TI/rm/ray/index.html
Also:
http://www.mathsource.com/cgi-bin/MathSource/Publications/Periodicals/TheMathematicaJournal/0207-481
FTP: ftp.inf.ethz.ch/org/ti/scs/ray/POVray.m
Description: Lets you convert 3D Mathematica graphics
objects to POV-Ray files.
Notes: It is in a collection, not by itself. You must d/l of the
archives listed, and uncompress it. Perhaps someone could make
the file availible on their site to make things easier?
----Pov To MDL----
Author: Thomas Baier -- thb### [at] ibmnet
thb### [at] compuservecom
CIS: 100527,3011
Version: 1.6
Platform: MSDOS (or Windows in dos box)
Tryout Type: Askware
Cost: $15 if you use it, and can afford it.
Import: POV (2.x)
Export: UDO (2.x)
WWW: http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/thbaier/
Notes: Requires that official POV syntax be used (especially
for commas) in the POV file. If it is not in the correct
format, then povpars should be used on the POV file first.
----POVPars----
Author: Thomas Baier -- thb### [at] ibmnet
thb### [at] compuservecom
CIS: 100527,3011
Version: 1.0
Platform: MSDOS (or Windows in dos box)
Tryout Type: Freeware?
Import: POV (2.x)
Export: POV (2.x)
WWW: http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/thbaier/
Notes: This program is for use with Pov2mdl. It takes a POV
file, and makes it more syntactically correct. It uses the
actual POV parser to do this (more forgiving than pov2mdl).
----ray2pov----
Author: Filip ? -- spa### [at] geocitiescom
Version: Alpha
Platform: Binary is for MSDOS
Tryout Type: Freeware
Source Code: Yes

a lot of nice stuff including plugins, hidden-line removal,
built-in raytracer, demoing, arraying transformations,
configurable menus, and a lot of other stuff. He had a good
amount of info. on the page, so check there.

#############################################################
9 -- Other POV-Ray Utility Lists
#############################################################
Daniel Skarda's Bookmarks
http://atrey.karlin.mff.cuni.cz/~0rfelyus/bookmark.html
Notes: This list is not limited to POV-Ray utilities, and is
somewhat unorganized in places, but I found several things
there, that aren't anywheres else.
Gautam N. Lad's POV-Ray Page
http://www.interlog.com/~gautam/povpage.html
Notes: Another comprehensive site. Impulse's and this one overlap
a lot, but still a couple of differences on what is listed.
Impulse's Page
http://www.grfn.org/~nkopp/pov/povray.shtml
Notes: One of the more comprehensive listings of utilities.
Macintosh POV-Ray Resources
http://home.pages.de/%7Emac-pov-resources/
Notes: Good listing of macintosh utilities for POV-Ray. Most of
the utilities on here I haven't seen anywheres else.
Official POV-Ray Site
http://www.povray.org/
Notes: Besides general info. on POV-Ray, they recently put back
back some links to utilities.
The Officially Unofficial POV-Ray 3.0 Utility Warehouse
http://quark.vpplus.com/~redbeard/raytrace/POVRay-Util.html
Notes: Listing primarily of POV-Ray include files.
POV Access
http://cq-pan.cqu.edu.au/~aldousm/access/
Notes: Yahoo-like listing of various POV-Ray stuff (like the Raytracing
Home Page). Not too too many things under Modellers and Utilities,
but enough that I can list it here.
POV-Ray CDROM -- Utilities for POV-Ray
http://www.povray.org/pov-cdrom/cd/programs/povutil/
Notes: This is the listing of utilities from the online version
of the official POV-Ray CDROM. It is a bit outdated now,
but still gives a lot of good information.
Pov Utilities -- By Harry Rowe
http://mimine.inet.co.kr/~iyhwang/povray/povutil.html
Notes: Very lage text listing of POV-Ray utilities. It seems to be
outdated, but could still be usefull. Does anyone know anything
about this list or the author? Tried writing to the e-mail
address provided, but my mail bounced back.
The Raytracing Home Page
http://www.cm.cf.ac.uk:/Ray.Tracing/
Notes: The links on here are a bit hodgepodged, since it is automated
with visitors adding links. Good resource though. Also has info.
on other raytracing packages besides POV-Ray.
Steve Wallace's POV Utility Review
http://www.dhc.net/~swallace/index.htm
Notes: While being smaller than some of the other lists, it has
good descriptions and example images. It also just added
some more entries, some of which aren't on the other lists.
The Unix Graphics Utilities Pages
http://www.csn.net/~mjhammel/ugu/ugu.html
Notes: Pretty comprehensive listing of various Unix utilities. Look
under Software for these, and under PUP for some of his own
utilities.
Visionaries POV-Ray Software Links
http://www.visionaries.co.uk/hots/povtools.hts
Notes: A lot of good links. Some are outdated, but there are some
things I haven't seen listed anywheres else.
