Hello I need to post some files here this is related to a thread about
3dsmax and POVRAY:

I respond:
Thanks thats the best I've gotten so far. I've been working with the person
who developes the exporter 3dwin, this Is the results we have gotten:

"einarabelc5,

the rabbit imports well to 3DWin and renders with POV-Ray.
Of course the ase file contains additional objects like bones and
other helper objects. In order to render it properly you need to delete
them or hide/exclude them from export.

In 3ds max most of the objects are subdivided. This is not exported to
ase. So, the rabbit looks a little bit blocky.

All this issues can also be solved within Rheingold3D (hide objects,
subdivide and render with / export to POV-Ray)

Thank you"

You see there are so many other problems between 3dsmax and pov than only
textures...
Just see the original rendered in 3dsmax and what they did with 3dwin and
povray...

This is a scene originally found in 3ds max 8 dvd scenes folder...

Can you export the rabbit as an OBJ file. If you can try converting it with
PoseRay. Or try a 3DS format. I can see why you are complaining.
I did not like the textures 3DWin gave objects, too flat and shiny
