I don't know what renamed the attachment 'zm9' (possibly a Zone Labs
MailSafe gateway somewhere). The file type should be zip. I just tried
downloading and renaming it and it seems to still work on Windows XP.

Chris B.

Hmm. Strange. It shows up with the right name, but an extension of zm9 in
Outlook Express and it downloads with that extension too when I do a Save
Attachments, but it's 'zip' on the web site.
I don't know if it's just my newsreader then.

Chris B.

My condolences to all new windoze users. Everything I hear says to me, stay away
and keep current sweet sytem.
I brains cells serve, it was this one, Lightwave:
http://www.scifi-meshes.com/meshes/index.php?dlid=249
Lightwave loaded in Blender->Poseray->POV export
Seems divided into 4 meshes. Wouldn't be able to animate central ring.

And here (finally) is mine. It contains the scene-file for the Stargate and one
for the transporter rings as well. The rings are all CSG, the Stargate uses CSG
and height-fields. The gate is not finished, as the chevrons are not complete
nor animated, but the ring is animated (glpyhs rotate around) and the event
horizon is animated (only an already open gate, not the "kawoosh" effect).
Feel free to add whatever you want, and add them both to the object repository
under whatever the appropriate license is (unless I need to do that, in which
case point me in the right direction). If you add anything to it or do any
animations, I'd love to see them.
Mike

Chris, it shows up as .zip on the web, but when I download it I get a ".zip file
is corrupt" error. Can you post it unzipped? I'd like to compare your prism
version versus the heightfield version I did.
Thanks,
Mike

Here are the POV-Ray prism and SVG files unzipped. I still don't know quite
what went wrong with the zip.
Your height fields benefit from a smooth edge whereas the prisms leave a
very sharp.
I notice that converting your images from png to jpeg brings your images
down to about a quarter their size. Although jpeg is lossy it doesn't seem
to be detrimental to the result.
I also noticed that the two sets of glyphs differ slightly in their outlines
I don't know which is most authentic or even whether there's any consistency
in the TV shows and films.
Regards,
Chris B.

Whenever you compress a file, there is a chance that the process goes wrong,
resulting in an unusable archive. Very good to always check the integrity of the
archive immediately after you make it.
It can also get corrupted in the process of uploading it...
