Hey all, I posted this in relation to Darren Hewson's request, see his
post in p.b.i., "Pov Imitates Art". The fluorescent light is the main
focus, but the other elements are interesting also. I would appreciate any
help you can give with the stained glass lampshade transfromations. There
is a slight inconsistency in the current translation-rotation scheme that
causes gaps and overlaps to appear between segments in certain ranges of
extensions of the lampshade. To see this, uncomment the lampshade at the
end of the file, and then go back and change the "rot" value at the
beginning of the "lamp_shade" section. Be careful though, it might be good
to use 3 to 5 lights instead of fifteen like I did for the sample image,
because the render time went up more than ten-fold with the addition of the
lampshade. You could also go without radiosity by simply changing the
declaration at the beginning. Also note that there will be cords and other
things added later for drawing up the lampshade. Thanks in advance for any
help you can give, and have fun with the source file.
