Hi,
What use is it ?
I do not understand how much more usefull it is than the simple
colour_map { [0 colour Black] [1 colour White] }
How is it different and what is the advantage ?

After looking at I can understand your interest.

Well other than being explicitly 256 shades of gray not a damn
