I thought I'd share this bit of a scene I am working on. This is an 8k image
rendering of the parts of the scene I have mostly finished. It is rendered with
some moderate radiosity, but still only took about 3 minutes. (There is only
one light source at this point).

Again, mostly isosurface objects. The scrabble board surface is just a bunch of
texture layers, including the wear patterns and stains.

Suggestions are welcome on where to go from here...

Looks to me like a 'really' good start. :-)

How did you arrive at the particular words on the board?

After doing more hunting than I thought was going to be necessary, I found a
site with international Scrabble Championship results that included play-by-play
listings. The posted scene is about halfway through the final from 2003. I
wrote a bunch of SDL code to generate the board, rack contents, and scorepad
based on these playthroughs so I can render the scene at various points in
different games.

Interesting, I had wondered about a few of the words that showed up and
which dictionary they came from - in particular, 'ee' and 'ny', neither of
which appear in the official dictionary (at least not that I found).

I also was wondering what the play order was, but only got the first word
(which was mostly easy since it had to include the center square).

Very cool image.

beautiful.

(I've a bet with myself that you've modelled the board's turntable too :-))
