Having POV up and running again may not be a good thing for my overall
productivity, but thanks to all the suggestions I've gone back and made some
adjustments. I'm much happier with the rock texture this time around, and the
trees are more appropriately sized. A little bit different perspective, too.

Once again, it seems the first one was a bit too large.

Wow, awesome! I tried creating an island too but the results weren't as
nice.

Really lovely, both versions. The second version is definitely better, but it's
a really subtle improvement - the rocks are just that bit rockier, and the
vegetation more sharply delineated by the rock.
You can just feel the lazy heat! Now, where's my hammock and rum...

Stunning! Now it would be very intriguing to have a "pedestrian view"
render from the beach of the main island... or a view downwards from its
rocky mountain top! Or even from inside the forest...
More suggestions: adding a crude level-of-detail system, containing
things such as pebbles, shells or driftwood for close-ups of the beach,
marine life in the water. Or what about rendering a topographic map of
the islands?
See you in Khyberspace!

Thank you. A lot of what I do is learnt from JVP.

I find it easier to work with.

The island and atmosphere are so realistic that the ship stands out like a sore
thumb. It is the wrong model as the sails look as if they are in a fresh gale.
Furl them thar sails. Me harty. ;-)

Hmmm...that is a good point. It's a shame, though, since the ship is the one
thing in the image that has motion to it; it feels like it's going somewhere.

If you could reposition the ship out of the lee of the island and make
her heel over some more. It might make it more believable. Or just
remove the sails and have her hove to.
