After seeing Jaime Vives Piqueres' amazing render, I thought I'd have a play
with his Proceduralize macros combined with my DF3Proximity macro. Add in some
textures from http://mayang.com/textures/ and here's the simple test render of a
Julia fractal...

Thank-you!

Yes - proximity based, but instead of two (or more) procedural patterns being
used based on the proximity pattern, this is using bitmap textures and Jaime
Vives Piqueres' Proceduralize macro.

I'm just blown away by this image. OK, I know a julia fractal is just a
computer-made shape--but this looks *so* real, so tactile. Like an odd piece of
old iron found in a junkyard (possibly an artist's foundry experiment that was
discarded--or a piece of old machinery, from some *mysterious* machine.)
Beautiful texturing and lighting. Kudos!

I just remembered Rune's "Pattern Control Trick" - works great with proximity
patterns!

Oooh, seems I reinvented the wheel last week ;) I used
such a technique together with aoi pattern for simulating
diffuse lighting by textures.
