Thought I would give myself a couple of hours this evening to do something
creative. Very simple scene, thinking about colors and how to arrange things
within the frame. I used blur_samples of 9600 and still got a lot of
granulation deeper into the field, but I suppose that is okay. (Variance
1/10000 and confidence .99 as well.)

I think you are right about the blurriness ... Funny, it looked okay to me last
night! I used an aperture setting of 8 and then pulled the focal point forward
a bit to soften things up, but I think it's too soft now.

Try reducing the aperture down to 2 or 1. With a smaller aperture,
you'll also need less samples.

Second version with reduced aperture. A little less fuzzy.
