My little guy wanted a new picture of a digger so I thought I'd share.
Really just a rerender of a previous posting with some minor changes: I changed
the ground to the cracked mud from my tubs scene and used a different
environment map.

Great work!
The bare metal parts are too shiny though; they look like polished chrome when
they should be steel instead (and somewhat worn out, at least for the shovel
teeth).
The tires are too black - somewhat plasticky, not rubbery enough.

Wow. Looks great, but certainly brand new. What did you model it with?

I didn't model it. It's a mesh I DLed (I can't find the site at the moment).
Thanks though.

It's brand new and heading for a show room ;) So, it did not have the time to
get wornd out.
The tires have been treated with a generous amount of "New Finish"...

Uh-huh... I see... ;)
Still the shovel's teeth are too bright: You don't want potential customers to
think that this is just fancy decoration; you want them to *see* the strength
of it. So for a show room they *must* look like strong, best-quality Swedish
steel, not chrome. You're selling Man's Power Tools, Practical Stuff made for
Real Work - not lazy motorbikes specifically tuned to bad combustion for the
sake of the sound.

It's not for work, it's a commuter vehicle. Pick ups are out, with cheap gas again,
heavy construction vehicles are mandatory for the stylin' cubical worker.
I really like the wall textures!

Exactly, it's a pimped out digger for the playa in everyone!
Wall textures are from arroway (http://www.arroway-textures.de/ - just the free
lower res ones) and applied as heightfields from the bumpmaps to give a
realistic surface rather than just faked normals.
