Nah, it's hiding behind a tree and looking through the window ;)

The picture on the left wall appears very similar to the main scene
itself (though not identical).

Could it be a mirror?

Hmm, yes. Then I would guess that he's either referencing the picture
of the family with the dog, or the "P" symbol on the wall.

Thank you very much!!
(For your nice words and all advices! ^^)
It would be great to get help on radiosity!
The plants at the floor are reflecting, but using such dark conditions, it
cannot be seen.
I'll try to change the tree barks and to add some normal maps...

But if it looks too artificial and not at all artistic, it's not very good,
isn't it?

Wow, thanks! I have to change quite a lot, I see.
One reason why I hardly didn't dare to post it at first. Thanks for the detailed
advices.
I made the mistake to put the candle lights inside two different sphere sweeps,
so the walls get this colour...
To tell the truth, the walls are blue with normal map, which should imitate a
stucco structure.
So these colours are from the candle lights. ^^
A nice side effect, that I didn't change, because I also liked it more than the
blue walls before.
I didn't know what to do with the plant pots. That's a very good idea. I'll
change it immediately.
Yes, (sheepish), I meat that construction on the floor....

Yes... ^^
 (too obvious, I finally know)
Next time it will be quite harder to notice, I'll promise! :)

^^
In reality there is no face...
no construction of a face...
it's all, what your brain makes you thinking of. :)

Thanks!
It's my first interior, but I have tried to do simple things before.
I shouldn't get too many compliments. ^^
