Huh. I just had a fatal hard drive snafu, and I've been installing drivers on
the new HD as I need them --- so I wouldn't be surprised if something were
goofy with my monitor. Nevertheless, my display is gamma-correct to 2.2 as far
as my eye can tell, and the image is dark but very readable. I'll see if I can
find someone with reliable CRT for me to view it on.

Thanks, all, for pointing out the problem. I'll see if I can't get it resolved.
In the meantime, here's a GIMP-corrected image that looks rather too-bright on
my monitor.

The adjusted version looks much better... Nice composition BTW.
Since I have some free time before the deadline, I'll try to get an entry in.
Sounds like a fun topic.

Best Regards,

Looks good here with about any brightness setting.

Well, I did manage to get an entry in:

Objects:
2 Kings each w/ lathe + cylinder
Bishop, difference of lathe & box
Pawn, lathe
Board, 2 boxes
sky_sphere, w/ gradient color_map for background
=================================================
TOTAL: 10

"Meet Soup" is a great site. Many thanks to Sam.

Best Regards,
Mike C.

Stunningly simple, simply stunning.

"Fantastic" is a very poor adjective to use.

Thanks for sharing.

I fear 10 objects means 10 leaf objects.
In that case you've got:
4 lathes
2 cylinders,
3 box
1 light_source, I guess (I fear they count too, while a sky_sphere doesn't)

Great job, you made it under 10 leaf objects.
Congatulations!

Actually, I wondered about that, so I checked. For this contest, light sources

Thanks to everyone for the feedback.

Look's really great! Board texture could still be improved.
Also, the last move of white must have been rather silly to
achieve that particular mate position ;)
