The ropes around the pivot act as a torsional spring. The handles at
the back are to force the catch off the hook.

The original full scale image is at
http://xbox.advancedmn.com/images/media/Catapult.jpg
The stored energy comes from stretching a rope spring on the axle when the
boom is racheted down.

Yes, and for those who have seen Scrapheap on TV, know that it is not so
obvious to build a working one :-)

Hello.
Maybe you can get inspired by a standard pov sample file:
scenes/advanced/ionic5.

Sean btw that throne is a great piece, I forgot to say!
And thanks Tim and dlm for enlightening me on the tecnique used in this
model.
On the issue of building a real catapult sort of thing, I remember at least
one man who has reached success:

Cows beware! ;D
And wow, Bruno, thanks a lot!
I really should take the time to deeper explore the POV folders before
venturing out into the dark.
I think I am already very inspired by that scene!
I wonder what else I might find...

IIRC There is a lion model in Poser. From which you could use the head. I
recently. I used a paw as a foot for a stand quite a while ago.

He should have thrown one just to try :p
LOL after I saw the piano explode in fire, I expected to hear the car play a
chord :-p
It looks like what we called "Couillard" in middle age France
http://medieval.mrugala.net/Armes%20de%20siege/Couillard.htm
Don't ask me why it is called couillard . I'll just say that our "couilles"
are like your bullocks (but bigger of course ;-)

Thanks Mark
In that case RusHHouR, you might be able to export only the head or delete
the body in Poseray. Assuming you downloaded it.

You are right and I cannot imagine that throwing arm surviving the
sudden stop when it hits the massive top beam .
Not a practical design at all
