I saw the image of these dolls on Gena Obukhov's web site. The original
image was created ages ago - i thought they were beautiful and wanted to
create my own image from them! This image uses HDRI. Megapov used to create
the HDR image and depth map required for pp. DoF added in photoshop later
(also
slight tweeks with brightness and contrast). Hope you like!

Comments welcome.

Adrian

Hey, excellent job Adrian! I'd be truly proud if I produced those instead
of fish and chips... and peas! ;)

Thanks for posting it, it really is nice... And different.

Even better. I think it's because there's actually quite a nice smile in
these images. It's a happy picture. Nice to see.

You've done some good work here.

Hey! NO PHOTOGRAPHS! :)

They look really nice. But one thing is missing - the thin "crack" between
the top and bottom halves of those larger Matushkas.

Look good.
What happened to the shadows.
They a bit look like bowls of black dust floating in the air.
Maybe this is because there's no ground visible.

Thanks for the comments.

I'll have a look at some reference photo's and add a 'crack' in for more
realism!

The shadow's maybe look strange because the ground/background is white with
no reflection or anything. It doesn't help viewing in a browser window all
white too - better in a pop-up. The other thing is is that I may have
overdone the brightness/contrast settings in photoshop - some of the
lighter shadows sometimes disappear when you adjust the levels. Also the
images are jpegs - final version will be png's!

The lighting is using HDR maps with simulated photo studio conditions i.e.
with umbrellas, softboxes etc - Jaime Vives Piqueres shows on his web site
- his work - not mine (Images > WIP and it's the Alarm-clock).
