I wanted to make a ivy-plant macro like Kenneth.
This is a small test. I used sphere sweep. The leaf is made by wings3d. I
used image_map and bump_map.

How is it?
(I will post the macro source soon. )

Hasan

I think the vines should stick to the wall and the leaves should be oriented
more or less parallel to the wall (facing the global light as in the real
world)

Hi, Hasan

I like this. Nice work. Did you use the sphere_sweep's spline points as
attachment points for the leaves? Or did you actually trace the vines to
get those locations?

Personally, I think a *combination* of vines sticking to the wall AND
overhanging it would look quite natural. Looking forward to seeing more of
your experiments.

Ken

Kenneth, of course I used trace method. Macro is finding cross point from
the given object. it may be "sphere_sweep" or another object (mesh,
cylinder etc)
But your work is looking better then me:)

Hasan.

Hmm... I think both your works are looking good :-) I wonder if a bit of
cross-fertilization would not improve things dramatically!

Maybe if you could go out of your way to sprout a leaf at each turn, it
would look better.

What you could do, Hasan, is decrease a bit the distance to the wall, and
introduce also some randomness there, so that the ivy would grow between 0
(close against the wall) to x (any small distance from the wall).
