It should work in any of the Google Maps compliant browsers - IE5.5+,
Firefox/Mozilla, Safari 1.2+ and Opera.

Although the page seems to use VML, it uses clever tricks to achieve the
same results (less efficiently) in non-IE browsers. The other
"proprietary" features that it relies on (such as "onload" functions)
are widely supported.

hehe... yah, M$IE usually has a hard time with Java and Java scripts...
Firefox and Netscape are more Java-compliant.

There MUST be java. With java forbiden to change/load pictures: gray square. With java
permited to 
change/load pictures: map shows up.

Firefox has settings that allow other things to change and load
pictures, but there's no such option for Java.

Look at: Tools|Options... Web Functionalities, Advanced button to the right from
Activate JavaScript.
