I agree: great image, a little too much light on the boat.
If you're having trouble with media containers overlapping, try merge{}ing
them together. (Just a hunch, dunno if it will help.)

Aside from the fact that I don't like the way the clouds are fading to
the horizon, I love the ship and the water. And most of all, I admire
the patience and love for details you put into this project. You have
put so much work into this for such a long time, I don't think I could
ever stick to a project like this.

Impressive. I particularly like the ship. How detailed is it? You seem to
have well-tackled the running rigging. Personally, I found that the most
difficult part to do right.

A single lonely volcano in the distance? That could be Tristan da Cunha,
the remotest inhabited island in the world, located in the southern

Thanks for the comments Marc. I agree the ship is too bright in this image.
I need to work on the texture of the sails to cut that down. I have
investigated the problem with the containers and it seems to be a problem
with the cloud density reaching the edge of the container. That... I know
how to fix.

Thomas, I am modelling the entire ship above deck. I have almost all of the
hull and deck finished. Most of the main mast running rigging is done, but
very little of the fore mast running rigging is completed. The running
rigging is created with a macro based on the LINKS.INC file. I would be
more than happy to share the rigging include file with you if you are
interested.
I am getting a lot of questions on the level of detail of the ship. It
reminds me that I have been working on cloud and sea for a while now and
have not posted an image form the deck in quite some time. I will render
one this weekend and post it early in the week.

Ah! links.inc, of course! My problem came from the fact that (I modelled my
ship in Moray) I wanted also to provide some inverse kinematics to the yards
and sails, and be able to change their orientation according to the wind.
This brought me in conflict with the Bspline plugin I wanted to use for the
running rigging, as that could not be included into a csg. So I left it
momentarily. However, the ship remains a WIP, of course.
Yes please, I would be very interested in your links-based macro for the
rigging. I might find a solution for my project after all... :-)
