Most of his works are woodcuts, and I assume that's even harder than pen and
paper ;-) (although he probably used preliminary pen-and-paper drawings).

My personal faviourite was the one where the division suffered "an 
earthquake", rendered like twisted iron. (Complete with weird texture 
and red glows.)

But anyway, this one is pretty dam funky too!

Sorry, I notice I forgot to post my response to your image.  I like it! 
  Did you use a "repeat" warp in the isosurface?  I really like the 
focal blur effect on this.
