Here's another of my image creation challenges. For this one, make a scene
of crystals. It can be something simple and natural, like a geode, or maybe
something magical or sci-fi, like a crystal landscape.
Anyone who wants to attempt this, post your image in a reply to this tread.

Well, here's my little attempt. (I really must learn how to texture things
properly some day!) The second image was the one I was actually aiming at;
the first one was a "happy accident". (It reminds me of a mineral, who's
name totally escapes me right now.) I can't get the second one to look right
at all. (By the way, adding conserve_energy made it render in 8 mins instead
of 12 mins - weird!) I'm working on one that has dispersion and photons (not
that I can get the photons to show up very much...)
OK, it's not that good... I'll try harder tomorrow.

Ooops... Sorry, should have checked the filesize before posting... Was

Here's the version with dispersion and photons. (You can't see the photons
very much! Still, they didn't affect the render time much; ~ 35 mins @
1.4GHz.) Oh, and it's in JPEG format this time ;-)

Nice work! Although, I think I'd have to agree on the sky being a bit
distracting. Probably something blander would be better.
