Feels like I'm in a giant machine. I like how it slowly spirals into
the distance. Is the framework just cylinders, or something else?

Real neat. Wasn't the original one of your Friday afternoon
specials that you used to do? I saw it amongst some other
old saves of mine the other day.

The shape is kinda interesting, but I definitely wouldn't want to be
there. I would assume a gas that color has pretty gruesome side effects
if you breathe a lot of it... like chlorine or nitrogen dioxide... (that
means i don't like the color. ;)

I remember the original, I like them both.

Very impressive sense of scale - it really has the feeling of being huge,
though I'm not quite sure why :)

Cylinders and spheres (for the joints between cylinders), the macro
that generates the spiral will either create a mesh "skin" or a
cylinder and spheres framework.

I don't think it was part of the Friday series, the original image
took way too much effort to be an afternoon job :-). (But MegaPov's
media and increased processor power means that the updated version
only takes a couple of hours to render.)

Do you have preference for a colour? I might try grey, to simulate
ground fog, but I'm worried the image might loose something. (The
sky's already gone from colour (in the original) to grey to improve
the colours using radiosity.
