Playing with various functions, I came across this fascinating "electronic
circuitry" texture and then proceeded to make this quick doodle. Total render
time at 800x600 with AA0.3 on Pentium 1.2 GHz/256 MB RAM is 1 minute, 1 second.
Comments?

Cheers!

You're very welcome. I have a 1280x1024 of it on my desktop now. I may yet
make a few "mood lighting" additions. Source is available to anyone who wants
it.

Cheers!

If you close your eyes and press them really hard with your fingers (be
careful!), I can see the same patterns.

Knowing this is sad, you've been raytracing too long:-)

That is a very nice pigment function. Would you post the function?
