Interesting. How did you get the interference patterns?
It's a bit dark, but you knew that. Could it have anything to with the way
you got the interference patterns?

Hi Halbert, would you believe that the dark part is a sphere? It's
made from Spiral1, and has 2,616,100 'arms'!
The sphere is scale 9. For some reason, I don't think that it is 'the'
sphere, I think that the camera is either looking 'inside' it now, or it is
a 'shadow' of the sphere. Perhaps someone can enlighten me as to what 'has'
happened?
For some reason, I couldn't get a light under there, although, obviously,
there is a light there somewhere.
Playing with this, with high figures for the arms, produced some very
interesting images, this one being one of the best, but if you play with
this, keep the arms between 2,111,000, and 2,700,000. If you keep around
these figures, and then scale the sphere down to 2, 3 or 4, it produces
quite a nice grey 'stony' texture as well. The 'stars' though, I believe,
are the result of the arms 'intersecting' eachother?

Thanks Steve, I had quite a good play around with this. The moon was as
close as I could get it using stone texture 13. It sort of looks like one!
It rendered at 59 seconds. I would have thought that it would be longer
than that, really.

Hi Grim. I didn't use hollow. What would that do? Would I be more able
to get a light on it then? I think it's the sheer size of the sphere that
won't let the light on it, I may be wrong...

For 'hollow' just look at Povray docu, if lighting does not work because the
light source is outside and the camera inside, you have to make the large sphere
shadowless.

My bet is that the camera is inside the sphere. If your lights are
outside then of course they won't light anything and all you'll get is
the ambient light. If you want light sources to do something, you should
either put them inside too or make the sphere shadowless or both.
"hollow" won't change anything unless you want to use fog or media.
