Sorry. I was a late publisher too :)
I tried to copy a pov triangle that was posted on Compuserve in mid
90s.
In real life, this illusion can be built into a box with a very small
viewing hole.

the 'fake' ones.

In the attchment you see the same scenery with an added half
transparent plane that is placed *exactly under*  the eight white
dices to show you the trick. The two 'fake dices' are placed *under*
the plane as you can see by the color.
The trick was to cut the upmost dice that is flying above the dices
that lie upon the ground plane is clipped_by a plane that  exactly
touches  the camera location and therefore your pint of view...
Hope this could solve the riddle...

This was my solution, shown using the default camera.
The plain yellow cube was for a shadow.
