You won't be putting the code up by any chance will you? I'm interested in the
branching code for the tree and the media sky settings.

BTW, what's that iridescence-like thing in the sky behind the tree?

Looks like a gas giant to me. Knd of Saturn-ish.

I posted the scene-file to povray.binaries.scene-files

PS: use the +k0.4 setting, otherwise you won't see the tree (it is 
animatable)

Because media looks a lot better.
The color/brightness of fog isn't dependent on the direction, it doesn't 
tint the light etc. This makes it look much more boring und unnatural.
